Research Axis
The research activities are structured around two main axes aimed at studying the stability or changes in legal-social interventions:
Axis 1: Continuum of individual reactions to changes in socio-judicial movements
This avis explores the different perspectives of social actors on access to justice and the reduction of inequalities. It highlights the experiences of victims, offenders, citizens, legal and social professionals and the general public. The axis enables the deployment of studies on the trajectories of justice users, restorative justice practices, and the roles of professionals in this continuum.
Axis 2: Continuum of structural and institutional responses to social change
To effectively combat violence rooted in social inequalities, it is necessary to develop and evaluate legal and social responses at different levels of the justice system, upstream, at its core or downstream, including but not limited to the correctional level. The aim is not to limit ourselves to the “dominant” formal justice system. The axis includes the study of mechanisms for access to social justice, such as restorative justice, social or clinical programs, but also the study of breaking points between psychosocial and legal responses, social reintegration or programs and reforms aimed at more egalitarian social relationships.
Reforming institutions too quickly can lead to non-structural violence, and it is crucial to consider transformations dynamically, from the status quo to profound reform.
